Happy Halloween!!

I wanted to post today's monsters from Vivika's Toy Art because I feel that they, like Halloween, perfectly capture and express the duality of man, which of course, is a common theme throughout the history of art, religion, and plush. Oh, and cute bats! Yay bats!

Bunny Monsterz!

I've discussed my theories about the epidemic of bunny monsters and the inevitable Bunny Monster Apocalypse before. These (former) bunnies from Bunny Monsterz again prove my point, and only strengthen my resolve. We must try to find some common ground, and forge some kind of friendship with the Bunny Monsters, for they cannot be defeated, and they are growing in numbers as we speak...

Werewolf Needs a Home!

Our very first werewolf post! Hooray! Don't worry, he's friendly. He's just a bit upset that you haven't invited him to your house for Halloween. Poor guy! He's waiting at Doomed to Live, hoping you will order him in time for the big day, or at least save him some of those mini candy bars!

Mummy, Ghost and Bats, Oh my!

These "must have" Halloween monsters are from one of the most magical shops on the interwebs, The Jae Bird! The Jae Bird is another store where I just want to buy everything, and these Halloween friends are no exception! Luckily, this weekend The Jae Bird is having a sale! So now you can go check these guys out, read their interesting stories, AND get all your Holiday shopping done! (don't worry, I'll like whatever you pick for me...)

Zombie Update!

We interrupt our regularly scheduled programming to bring you this urgent Zombie Alert!

As you know, ionlylikemonsters is a proud member of the national Zombie Alert Network (ZAN), and as such, we are privy to many "early warning" Zombie Alerts. While many of these reports turn out to be false alarms, when we come across what appear to be legitimate alerts from credible sources, it is our duty to pass the information on to you.

The latest warning came from our friends at Firebongo/Zombie Fortress, so we knew to take it seriously. Firebongo's missive contained a BOLO (Be On the Look Out) for two particularly dangerous Zombies: Jack-o-lantern ZOMbee, and Elsa the Zombie (who is dressed as the Bride of Frankenstein). These two Zombies have disguises that allow them to "blend in" during the Halloween season, losing you valuable get-away time. I have posted their pictures so you know what you are up against! Don't forget to report to Firebongo if you think you've seen them, or you need more detailed information. Good luck and Godspeed!

Trick-or-Treat Print!

I found this hauntingly cool Halloween print at the aptly named Multiple Personality shop. These three tricksters seem unaware that their other personality is peeking out, planning to trick-or-treat too! Now don't you wonder if the other art at Multiple Personality shares this theme? I guess you'll just have to go there to see for yourself (or your-selves!) Oh, and don't worry, you can shop at Multiple Personality, no matter what your diagnosis is!

Lil' Frank!

Yesterday's post was so frightening, I thought I better post someone cute and friendly to make up for it! So here he is, the sweetest Frankenstein's Monster I've ever seen! Lil' Frank is currently residing at CMH Design, but what he would really like, is to come live with you! He asked me to let you know that he doesn't take up much room and that he promises to guard your Halloween candy like it was his own! So what do you say? Got room for a new little monster?

Spooky Pumpkin!

I was nervous about posting this spooky pumpkin from the Stitcher Scribbler shop. His description at the shop left the question open as to whether he was too spooky to be cute, but I think we know the answer. I mean, look at him, makes your blood run cold doesn't he? He's terror personified! I guess you could get one to use to frighten your friends, if you were brave enough, but I wonder... Do you dare?

The Dreaded Octopus Witch!

Beware the Dreaded Octopus Witch from llcourtney! Ah, this brings back memories! I remember (as I'm sure you do,) huddling under my blankets as a child, praying that the Octopus Witch would pass our house by, or at least attack my sister instead, she was bigger! Now that I've grown up, I can look at this Octopus Witch and think, "Wow, she's actually kind of cute! Why was I so afraid?" but isn't that always the way with our childhood fears? As an adult, they seem ridiculous. I mean, everyone knows that Octopus Witches don't attack children, they always use their powers for good! What a silly child I was!

Bats, Bats, Bats, I Love Bats!

I hunted down some more bats for you! I came across this particular species while investigating at Fidorable. Soft Big Ear Bats (as they are known colloquially) appear to be made up of at least three distinct subspecies: the Black Bat, the Freckled Bat, and the most unusual, Bookworm Bat! The researchers at Fidorable have spent their lives studying and cataloging them all. If you are interested in adopting or fostering one of these magnificent creatures, you'll need to talk to the head of the Breeding and Adoption Program. She will be happy to tell you more about their care and feeding, as well as any permits you may need to apply for in order to keep one in your house. Let me know how it goes!

Halloween Pocket Pals!

The cute is strong in this one! Christina from Christina's Yarn Crafts must be a cuteness Jedi! I am not entirely sure about the training this entails, but I think that Candidates have to leave home at a young age and train with a Master until they can crochet blindfolded! (or is it until they can catch a housefly with their crochet hooks? Oh, I can't remember!)

Even though I know these Heros think only of the greater good and expect no thanks, I still think we should all go to Christina's Yarn Crafts and let her know we appreciate the sacrifices she has made and the years of rigorous training she has endured in order to bring us this level of cute! Don't you agree?

Halloween Print for Year-Round Enjoyment!

Oh, print by Jillian Nickell how do I love thee? Let me count the ways... One, It's raining candy corn and the ghost remembered his umbrella! Two, I like that it's done in kind of an Edward Gorey-esque style, and Three, it's ORANGE, my favorite under-utilized color! I've mentioned my fondness for decorating with orange before. You can't really use a lot of it, but this print is just the right size to add its happy orange magic to your home without becoming overwhelming. I think that every home needs some orange, but that's just my opinion, and somehow I doubt my decorating ideas will be giving House of Turquoise any real competition anytime soon. Although, "House of Orange and Monsters" does have a nice ring to it...

Halloween Party Friends!

I was tempted to have a Halloween party this year (after I found a smoke machine at Target that also blows bubbles!) but then I realized that I'd have to clean my house, and that was the end of that idea. However, If I was going to have a party I'd like to invite/adopt this vampire and ghost, because they look like they know how to have a good time! In fact, Sassy Pack Rat Studios has all the mandatory Halloween party-goers! Vampires, ghosts, witches, candy corn creatures, and Frankenstein's Monster, as well as the perfect ornaments for your Halloween Tree. I don't have room to post them all, so go to Sassy Pack Rat Studios yourself, and then get those e-vites sent out!

Go to House of Darkly to stock up on these breakfast essentials now, or you'll be stuck with nothing but Zombie cereal in the morning, and you know that's not nearly as nutritious!

Candy Craziness Corn-tinues!

hahahahaha! Sorry I had to subject you to that title! Blame Scatterbrain! When I mentioned that my post titles were pretty drab, he suggested that I try the old newspaper headline standbys, alliteration and puns. I think he's sorry now!

If you've survived the title, you can now enjoy the creatures! Our first corn buddies come to us from Plush off which is a great site to find all kinds of food-type friends. The next delicious fellow is a crochet pattern from Bvoe's Shop, and our last kernel is from Manifested Dreams. Well, that's all for now, but don't worry, corn fans, I doubt these will be the last I post!

Candy Corn Weekend!

You know what I've noticed? Plush Candy Corn is just like real candy corn, incredibly sweet, and to me, irresistible! I tried to fight it, but eventually I gave in to the temptation and decided to make a weekend of it. So, ready for some sweets?

Our first batch of candy corn cuteness is from PJ Squid where, I think they have proven the point that more is better! The next two are from Panda With A Cookie, who serves up the corn in monster or pirate flavor! The last pack o' corn is from Necessary Nonsense who, in two words, has managed to sum up the whole mission statement of this blog! Bravo! I wish I could be that succinct! Don't forget to tune in tomorrow, where I'll only take a page and a half to describe 3 plush creatures...

Halloween Magnets!

I must admit, I am a huge fan of the refrigerator magnet as art, and I think they make wonderful presents (hint, hint!) They truly are the gift that keeps on giving, as well as THE answer to the question "what do you give to the person who has everything?" Case in point: these super sweet Halloween Magnets from Pamming. Here, I'll show you! First, think of the next person you want to buy a gift for. Next, ask yourself, do they have a refrigerator? YES. Do they have these cute Halloween magnets on it? N0. Do they need to? OF COURSE. See? Works every time! *pats self on back* I think my work here is done...

Swamp Monster Candy Corn and Public Service Announcement!

I know I've mentioned the value of Etsy as an antidepressant before, but with the holidays fast approaching, it seemed like a good time to bring it up again. I don't know about you, but when it gets dark early, and those joyful family events roll around, I need a bit of extra help keeping the old seratonin up. That's when I reach for Etsy, and look for things like this utterly unique and amazing Swamp Monster Candy Corn! The Creature from the Black Lagoon meets everyone's favorite Halloween treat!

I can't think of a more random and hilarious combination! Finding this little creature from Wingedfox Creations just made my day, made me laugh, and improved my seratonin levels with just one dose, all with no nasty side effects (except, of course, to my wallet if I can't resist him!) I recommend trying Etsy yourself. It may change your life, especially if you start at Wingedfox Creations! Don't hesitate, ask your doctor about Etsy today!

Note: Women who are pregnant or nursing should hide their credit card before trying Etsy. Etsy is not for everyone, people who like run of the mill, boring, mass produced items should not take Etsy. The active ingredient in Etsy is also available in other forms including, but not limited to: Folksy, DaWanda, Art Fire, Deviant Art, Society 6, and Big Cartel, only you can decide which is right for you.

Halloween Friend Patterns!

Halloween friends you can make! (and by you, I mean you, because I sure couldn't make them!) I'll just have to bribe someone to make them for me, because my fingers are cramping up just thinking about it! These Halloween friends are from the Crafty Alien Pattern Shop. Not only does the pattern teach you how to knit and felt these cuties but it also comes with e-mail support. Very cool!

Monster Friends! See them all in the older posts!
