New Playhouse for Roland!

The other day I cam home to a VERY excited Roland. He kept jumping up and down and pulling me to over to the computer. When I finally got there I understood! He had found a magical monster tree for him to hold court in, at The Itsy Bitsy Spider!

The The Itsy Bitsy Spider is truly a magical place and it's run by ONE OF THE GREATEST PEOPLE IN THE WORLD!! erm, I mean, a very talented artist who, (although Roland doesn't know it yet) is also participating in the quest to find him brothers!! (I got a preview, AWESOME doesn't even begin to cover it, so stay tuned!)

Roland's new tree house can be purchased in pattern form as well, for you talented types. The Itsy Bitsy Spider calls it a Fairy Hideaway, but that's just silly! WE all know that fairies don't exist, so get it for your monsters instead!

Cake Monsters!

and now for dessert... Cake Monsters from the fantabulous Bearmojo! I was so pleased to find these guys, as I've been looking for more kitchen monsters! I don't know about you, but I have plenty of room in there, since I don't cook food! This shop also has fantastic wallets and the perfect pillows for my couch (probably yours as well!) Go see!

My Favorite Meal Creatures!

Awesome Grilled Cheese Sandwich and Tomato Soup creatures from Steff Bomb!

This one goes out to P. Neisermonster who was one of the first people to communicate with Roland, and who actually discovered his name (which I think allowed him to spin straw into gold, or something...) Anyhoo, a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup is my all-time favorite meal, and I first had it with Mr. Neisermonster (who FYI, makes a mean grill cheese!) So I thought I'd give him a shout-out in thanks for bringing such a great combo into my life! There really is no greater gift...

Haiku Contest with Fabulous Prizes! (Reminder)

Haiku Contest with Fabulous Prizes! Time is running out! Don't just sit there with your coffee, start writing! 5-7-5 people!

yes I've been reading
I suppose you think it's strange
compared to what, though?

Eyeball Monster!

Thanks to Roland, so much fun stuff goes on at my house while I'm at work, I get kind of jealous and kind of worried at the same time. I was thinking of installing a Monster-Cam, but then I came across the very impressive Eyeball Monster from Freaky Fleece!

Freaky Fleece Has tons of Creatures and other Home Protection Products, but once I read about Eyeball Monster I was sold! Eyeball Monster's six eyes guarantee my house will be well "looked after" and that nothing that occurs will be missed on his watch! Finally I will be able to concentrate at work! Just imagine what I will be able to accomplish! I'll be a whole new woman! The money will come rolling in!

BUT then again, why start getting all productive at this late date? People might think I'm ill, and I wouldn't want to worry anyone. Yeah, best not to mess with the status quo. Probably I should just go look at monsters online instead, better for everyone really...

Fugglers!

There are a lot of amazing plush artists out there that I don't feature on the blog because, although he won't admit it, Roland is easily frightened, and some of the coolest creatures out there scare him a little. (He also gets a bit freaked out by button eyes!) Sometimes though, I just have to put my foot down and post something that I like, even if he is somewhat unnerved by it. Case in point, this extremely funny Fuggler from Mrs. McGettrick's Fuggler Emporium. This creature cracked me up and I wanted to post it, but what really tipped the balance was the "Legal Notice" I found on the "Shop Information" page. Here, read it yourself and you will see what I mean:

Legal Notice: You may have heard the rumour that I use human teeth. This may in fact be the only reason you have visited my shop. Shame on you. This is a TERRIBLE LIE put out by my ENEMIES in the cut throat PLUSH COMMUNITY. Those missing people have nothing to do with me. Any such allegations, or repetition of such allegations, will be dealt with swiftly and aggressively by my solicitor.

Mrs McGettrick thanks you for your understanding in this matter. Please buy a Fuggler...

AND there's more where that came from! When you go to Mrs. McGettrick's Fuggler Emporium, be sure to check out the "Small Print" section under each creature's little blurb, you won't be sorry! Now GO, and let the hilarity ensue! I have to go and console Roland...

Portraits!

Wow! I found a portrait of myself (apparently from last week) at Things People Say on Etsy! These artists are amazing! This is not the first time someone has captured my essence without even knowing me, but I still don't know how they do it! Magic, I guess. I'm hoping the second picture is a prediction for this upcoming week, at least for the sake of the people I live with...

Haiku Contest with Fabulous Prizes!

Roland had so much fun celebrating his birthday with you, that now he wants to "give back!" He suggested a haiku contest after he went to Pterodactyl Pants to shop, and fell in love with her monster haiku. He's been obsessed ever since!

So, ready to get your 5-7-5 on? Here's how to play:

Go through the blog, pick out a monster you like, write a haiku about it and put it in the comment section below that monster. (Make sure you leave your email info!) Alternately, if you want to make Roland's day, you can write a haiku about him and put it in the comment section on any page that features him!

Four winners will be chosen and will get to pick from these fabulous prizes:

1. Your choice of a print or a pouch (of my favorite design!) from Art by Marcia Furman!
2. An amazing Fluffosaurus by Scrumptious Delight!
3. A set of four (!) awesome posters by See Change Design!
4. A Glow-in-the-dark print of "The Leviathan" by Family Tree Design!

Ready, Set, GO!

Jimbot Creatures!

I've been lusting after these prints from Jimbot for quite awhile now, but when I went to do a post, I found out the most amazing thing: These prints are actually made by a robot, the robot depicted in the first print, to be exact! Here, I'll let the proprietor of Jimbot explain,

"This is a painting of "Jimbot" himself! He is the robot that I have trapped in my basement that I make do all the artwork..... I captured him in the Amazon on one of my expeditions. He has become the mascot of the Jimbot empire."

Hmmm...... maybe Jimbot would enjoy getting together with (fellow empire builders) Roland and Tyler Poncho for some "golf"? We'll see if he's allowed out of the basement, and I'll keep you posted!

Color Your Own Monster!

In case you happen to be in a relationship, and you are feeling badly about not having given your spouse/significant other a card or present for their BIRTHDAY, even though you had TWO chances, here is a great solution! You can purchase them a one-of-a-kind OoAKie from Green Star Studios. OoAKies are handmade collaborative works of art the recipient can color themselves! As Green Star Studios states, "OoAKies make great gifts for every art collector and plush lover."

Your significant other is probably both. I'm no marriage counselor, just thought I'd put it out there... I mean, I'm sure this is a common problem, Right?

Magical Monsters!

I was captivated by the enchanting beasts at Melissa Sue on Etsy (and her marvelous website!) but once I read her shop announcement, I knew I would have to post it here as well. It is just as intriguing and magical as the creatures she makes. Read on and be mesmerized...

The move across the ocean frightened all the tiny monsters
Their new home is strange - sleek and white
At night they peered out the giant windows, into a landscape of rocks and mountains
A few months pass, and now the monsters notice
The snow has melted
On the balcony flowers bloom, and rosemary sprawls
From the hills, through the open windows, comes the smell of the countryside
Deep lakes and dark forests
Wild animals
Worn cobblestones and ancient church bells
The wind from the mountains blows into the art studio
The monsters like it here
The creatures are coming back

Horrible Adorables has the most astounding creatures I've ever seen. I hear they import them from a magical planet! They look quite unusual but Horrible Adorables assures me they are friendly (and house trained!) You can purchase them at the shop but be sure to check out their wondrous flicker page too, you will be amazed!

Soft Kritures!

Kriture has just discovered a new species of soft furry Kritures! They are very rare, and are said to be quite intelligent, which has been making them difficult to capture. Because of their scarcity, Kriture will be listing ONE new soft Kriture on Etsy each day for fourteen days. After that? Who knows! So get over to Kriture ASAP, before they are all sold and you can only see them in exclusive zoos and private collections!
