Roland Decorates Your Home!

Hello, and welcome to the first installment of Roland Decorates Your Home! I know you thought that was what he was doing all along with this whole blog, but now he's getting specific! Here are his ideas for your master bedroom walls: Exit Man prints, everywhere! These pictures make Roland feel at home, and he assumes that if he likes them, you need to know about them. (He's generous that way!)

FYI: These are from another of our favorite sites, that I forgot to mention in my happy rant about affordable art the other day. It's called Society 6 and it's great too! You can find unique prints and stretched canvases for great prices, AND (if you are running out of space on your walls, or you just want to be THE coolest kid around) you can get many of them on hoodies or t-shirts. So, go to Society 6 now, check out your new master bedroom art at Exit Man, and don't forget to tune in for our next episode of Roland Decorates Your Home: The Office.

Fur Will Fly Monsters!

According to Fur Will Fly Enormous Eye sees everything! That seems like a hard job, seeing everything. I bet that's why she hangs out with her friends Beer, Wine, Vodka, and Ale. I know I would! Oh, and if what ails you is more physical than mental, Fur Will Fly also has a plush Viagra you can order. I had no idea Viagra was so cute! Had I known, I might have opened one of the last 10,000 e-mails I received from that QuALiTy CaNaDiAN PhARmACy!

Monsters Who Wear Pants (part three!)

Part three in our continuing series Monsters Who Wear Pants (MWWP), brings us this Oopahtot from Oopah who has broken with Oopahtot convention and decided to start running around in his Pajamas! What a rebel! I personally think we could create world peace (even Utopia!) if we could all just work in our pjs, so perhaps this guy is on to something! Go to Oopah and let him know you support his statement! We just have to take the first step...

Sock Monster Weekend!

I personally love sock monkeys and sock monsters but Roland is very wary of them. He can't get over the fact that they once were socks. He wonders:"Can any sock can suddenly become a sock monster? How can you tell? Should you be nice to all socks just in case?" It is a conundrum! Poor Roland, he's a very smart fingermonster, but he just can't figure it out. If you know the answer to his questions be sure to let us know! Until then, here are some sock monsters to enjoy while Roland ponders!

We begin with the wonderful (and brand new!) Thingummybobs from Odd Sox Rox! Next up, super-cute Penelope from Stufd, and lovely Darla from Addison Ave. We end today's sock monster fest with the charming Drew from Piccadilly Lily and handsome Brinton from Judy's Sock Critters! Don't forget to tune in tomorrow for more Sock Monster Madness!

Colorful Imp Monster!

This little one from MammalFeathers looks like a wonderful new pal. I particularly like her gorgeous coloring and the fact that MammalFeathers mentions that she enjoys "the smell of toast." Which, if you think about it, is an excellent air freshener, and a wonderful smell! In fact, as my good friend Paul used to say, I'd like to propose some toast! Then, while we are all munching away, I'd also like to propose going to MammalFeathers and reading about each of the Imps' characteristics and preferences. I think you'll find it the perfect breakfast accompaniment...

My Octopus Obsession Continues!

I could go on and on about how much I love Etsy, Folksy, DaWanda, Art Fire, Deviant Art and Big Cartel but instead I will just show you this octopus painting from Karen Watkins Art to make the point that I am so happy to finally live at a time where wonderful unique art is affordable and EASY TO FIND! There was a time, children, when there were no interwebs! All I had access to, that I could afford, were student art sales (which are still great), museum posters, and framing post cards and pictures from calenders. My dream was to one day be able to afford to mat AND frame the art, and to grow up and have all real signed prints! Well, unlike my dream, I never did grow up, and I still can't afford to both mat and frame, unless the print is small, but NOW, thanks to the sites mentioned above, I can have the prints I dreamt of, AND I can even buy an original piece like this stunning Octopus, if I save my pennies and don't buy too many plush monsters! Ahh, life is good!

Bunny With A Tool Belt Monsters!

Art imitates life! Here is a collection of monsters from Bunny with A Tool Belt that takes you through my weekend. First there I am waking up with my big cup o' tea, then on to some home improvement projects, some paperwork, and at last, time for beer (it was five o'clock!) Ahh lovely beer! The only thing that would make this more perfect is if there was a tiny Roland sitting on the boom box! I'll have to contact the very talented, Bunny with A Tool Belt and see if we can make that happen!

Robots!

I am so, so in love with these robots from John W. Golden that it is taking every ounce of my will power not to buy them now with my bill money, which I was trying to save (for yesterday's jewelry! err, I mean, for my cable bill!) I must remember my mantra "Bills first, monster/robot/creature friends second." Deep breath, and repeat...

Oh, if you are wondering why there are robots on ionlylikemonsters, you can find the explanation here, and if you are wondering if you can get these guys on coasters or art-blocks, the answer is here and here, but really, you should probably just go here because everything in the shop is awesome, and YOU WILL LOVE IT!

Monster Jewelry!

If you are like me, you want to have your monsters with you everywhere you go. However, not all occasions allow for a fuzzy monster, and that's when I usually bring Roland. Unfortunately, Roland is not always quiet when he needs to be, so luckily Tinkertown has the solution: Monster jewelry! These guys pack in the character and let people know you have a monster team on your side, without being ostentatious or getting in the way. In fact, Tinkertown guarantees that you can even wear them to work and they will not get into trouble, quite rare for a monster! I feel I must warn you though, they will undoubtedly make funny comments about your job, just loud enough for you to hear, so make sure you don't get caught giggling!

Monster Friends! See them all in the older posts!
